Other Projects

I have always had a side interest in Waste Recycling and Native animals. This page describes some of these side projects that I have been involved in.

Waste

I have published two articles on waste recycling within ECU, although the information is getting a bit dated now. The data is still being collected yearly, although I am no longer involved in the unit associated with it. These data were collected in the mid 1990s.

Mammals and Birds

Heath Mouse (Pseudomys shortridgei)

This work was undertaken by Kirsty Quinlan as her Honours Project, supervised by Dr Dorian Moro and myself. She used GIS and aerial photographing followed by groundtruthing to determine the habitats of the Heath Mouse at Lake Magenta in Western Australia.

Nankeen and Night Herons

This work was undertaken by Robyn Philimore as her Masters Thesis. The project was mainly supervised by Prof. Harry Recher, with me just supervising the final writeup. She studied the Nankeen and Night Heron populations at Perth Zoo.

Australian Ravens

This work has been undertaken by Suzanne Cummings as part of her Ph.D. examining the ecology and behaviour of an urban corvid, the Australian Raven (Corvus coronoides) in the City of Gosnells, Perth. She is currently writing up the work. Her main supervisor was Dr Harry Recher.

Logging in the Jarrah Forest

This work has been undertaken by Alexander Watson as part of his Ph.D., primarily under the supervision of Prof. Harry Recher.

Water Rat (Hydromys chrysogaster)

A review of the Water Rat in Perth was undertaken by Christie Atkinson for her Postgraduate Diploma Project, supervised by myself.
