Bachelor of Science (Security)
After serving 14 years with the Australian Army, Special Air Service and 9 years with the WA Police Tactical Response Group I decided on a new career as a security manager. In 1999 I decured a position as a Security and Risk Management Officer with the WA Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). In order to acquire a more rounded background in security, I decided to complete the Bachelor of Science (Security) degree at Edith Cowan University. The university course work enabled me to redirect my considerable knowledge and experience into developing an imaginative and very comprehensive security program for the ACC.

The ACC has no precedent in Western Autralia, therefore numerous problems crop up all the time that need to be understood before a solution can be attempted. The project work requires me to study these problems to determine the true causes and to identify the range of possible solutions. The analytical skills that I learn at ECU have enabled me to do this quite successfully. Project work represents the most interesting part of the work as it enables me to use my experience and knowledge to create new concepts. I suppose that the creative process of work is what keeps my interest alive.
