Research Staff

Research Centres

Research Units are governed by the University Research Groups, Centres and Institutes policy.  This policy refers to some faculty procedures in establishing a new research unit and in identifying a reporting procedure.  Should your research area wish to be formally recognised as a Research Unit we recommend you contact your Head of School in the first instance for support for a Level I Research Group.  Should you wish to upgrade or apply for a Level II Research Centre then you should also discuss this with the Associate Dean for Research and Higher Degrees.  Should you wish to begin negotiations for a Level III Research Institute then these discussions should also include the Executive Dean.  Once supported, a proposal should be prepared for the Faculty's Research and Higher Degrees Committee to evaluate and put forward a recommendation to the Executive Dean, who can formally recognise a Research Unit for our Faculty. The Establishment Form should form the basis of your proposal. For general advice, please contact the Associate Dean for Research and Higher Degrees.
